MANHATTAN NEIGHBORHOODS

Battery Park City

Planned in 1979, Battery Park City is one of Manhattan’s newest neighborhoods.  Battery Park City is a mainly residential 92-acre planned community at the southwestern tip of the island of Manhattan, more than one-third of which is parkland.  This downtown neighborhood, which is the site of Brookfield Place (formerly the World Financial Center), is predominantly a residential mix of full amenity condos and rental buildings.  The waterfront neighborhood is a relaxing haven in Manhattan’s otherwise bustling downtown. The secluded, almost suburban feeling neighborhood boasts scenic views of the Hudson River and The Statue of Liberty.

CHELSEA

Chelsea is a downtown neighborhood on the West Side of Manhattan.  The neighborhood consists of the area from 14th Street to roughly 30th Street and 6th Avenue to The Hudson River.  This vibrant neighborhood boasts a thriving art scene and has been host to many of NYC’s most well-known galleries since the 1990’s.  Chelsea, now home to hundreds of art galleries and artist studios, is an international hub for contemporary art.  The neighborhood is a mecca for restaurants, outdoor lounges, and nightlife hot spots.  The Highline and the Chelsea waterfront add to the allure of this area and have made it a popular home and destination for both artists and professionals.  Historic townhomes, prewar co-ops, walk-up tenement buildings, and brand new luxury condos comprise the diverse residential mix of this dynamic neighborhood.
